What’s your name and where are you from?

My name is Antonio Chiappetta and I come from a little town near Napoli, in the South of Italy.

How did you first hear about Startuplifers?

I discovered Startuplifers at SLUSH 2019, a yearly conference for tech startups in Helsinki, Finland.

What motivated you to apply?

At the end of 2019, I was attending the second year of my master’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction and Design at Aalto University. For the last semester of my master’s, I was supposed to write a thesis during an internship. I was looking for an interesting opportunity that would also allow me to travel to a new country, after having studied in Italy and Finland. Working in Silicon Valley had always been one of my life dreams, so I decided to look for a thesis job through Startuplifers!

Which company did you join through Startuplifers? In which year?

I joined Elevate Labs, a mental fitness startup at the time-based in San Francisco, in March 2020 – great timing, uh?

What is the biggest learning experience you have had from working at a US startup?

I worked with incredibly talented people on the iOS app Elevate, and it rapidly established itself as a worldwide leader in brain training games. This allowed me to learn about the tools and best practices that successful teams use to develop their ideas and make them sustainable businesses.

Name one cool/crazy/amazing experience you had while working through Startuplifers.

Being the first remote employee at the company and living in full the transition from office-based to fully remote of the company.

What do you do now?

I’m a software engineer at Apple in Paris.

Did your Startuplifers experience help you in your career development? If yes, how?

It was the decisive step to make me develop my academic skills in a successful business context. It ultimately brought me to get a job at my dream company, Apple.
