Startuplifers Batch is a matching event that happens several times per year.
It allows you to get matched with multiple talents with just one application. Facilitating recruitment and providing the right person for your startup needs.
Startuplifers program offers positions in tech, design, and marketing/business fields for students and recent graduates from Finnish or Swedish universities and universities of applied sciences.
The participant talent is required to have 1-2 years of work experience in their field of expertise.
Participant company partners must have a physical office in the Bay area and qualify as a startup (300 employees max.) with an active team willing to teach/learn.

While the length of the recruitment process varies case by case, the US visa process is handled by Startuplifers. An estimate of the processing time is anywhere between 8-13 weeks.

Startups based in California that are offering business, tech and design positions suitable for candidates with 1 to 3 years of experience.

The rough estimate is 8 to 10 weeks. It varies, depending on the consulate.
There are 3 steps to the process and their timelines do not overlap:
1. Preparing the J-1 documentation and the training plan, in conjunction with the J-1 host company. This usually takes a few weeks.
2. The DS-2019 (which is needed for the J-1 visa appointment). This takes up to one month.
3. The J-1 visa application appointment in the U.S. Embassy in Helsinki. You can check the estimated wait times here.

For the startup: around USD 6000. As a non-profit organization, Startuplifers only charges for the costs of the visa process, legal services, and flights.
Candidates need to fulfill 2 requirements:
-To have graduated from a Finnish or Swedish university (or to be a student)
-To do the process on-site at a local embassy/consulate
Participants may be able to start the process overseas, however, they generally have to be outside of the US when applying for a visa. Also, they will have to visit a US Consulate (e.g. in Helsinki) for a visa interview. Please contact us for more information.
