What is the worlds most rapidly growing gaming company? Yep, we’ve all heard of Supercell, the Helsinki-based maker of Clash of Clans and Hay Day. Supercell also has a small office right in downtown San Francisco and that’s where Alex is going. He’s a grad student from Aalto University School of Business and a long time KY active. Through his family’s businesses, entrepreneurship has been an everyday life for him. Having spent this semester in freezing Canada on his CEMS study exchange Alex is eager not only to jump into the fast-paced world of mobile gaming but also to enjoy the slightly warmer Californian climate.
Donghun from “South” Korea is joining Plivo, a company building a cloud based API Platform for Voice and SMS enabled apps. DH – as the most people call him, first came to Aalto as an exchenge student from Yonsei University of Seoul; fell in love with the entrepreneurial movement here and stayed. Since then, he has helped building Startup Life as a coordinator, and co-organized the Day for Failure, new international holiday to rethink failure, among others. He’s doing his bachelor in business, blogs about productivity, learning and technology and is extremely excited to join Plivo to work on community management.
Sten is currently pursuing my Masters degree in Computer Science over at Aalto University School of Science. Having worked with all levels of the web stack in companies small and large in Finland he’s very excited of the possibility to learn more in a very fast paced environment as a full stack engineer at YourMechanic, not to mention leaving Europe and living in San Francisco for few months. When not working or reading he spends his time biking, exploring new places or just chilling with friends.
Mika is a recent engineering graduate from Oulu University of Applied sciences. He is a programmer by hearth and loves challenging himself with fast paced startup environment. Having worked on a startup at Oulu, he finds it interesting to test his skills at BetterDoctor, San Francisco based company. His work to this day being mainly on iOS platform, Mika hopes for a chance to learn other platforms as well. In addition to programming, Mika enjoys white whine, a good cigar and watching documentaries.
Palash is a designer-developer committed to making the web a better and more usable place. An undergrad in Visual Communication Design, followed by ongoing studies in New Media at Aalto University School of Art and Design, gives him a ability to straddle both traditional media as well as emergent trends. Palash is joining Banjo, a location-based network that lets you explore what’s happening anywhere in the world right now. He will be working closely on their upcoming UI. In his spare time, Palash is interested inreading, writing, photography and travel.
Kristian is finishing his Bachelor’s studies in computer science at Aalto University. In summer 2012, he co-founded a startup called Jiiri with four other Aalto Students and is now looking forward to experience the Silicon Valley’s famous tech scene. Kristian will be joining Y-Combinator graduate Statwing, which develops a web application, to make working with data intuitive and beatiful. Kristian – or Härski as his friends call him – is a born hustler and will find himself in talks with practically anybody interested in coding, startups or food-related topics.
Antti is a graphic designer and concept designer from Korvaluoma. He graduated from Metropolia University of Applied Sciences in 2010 as an engineer of media technology. After being freelance designer for years and making a few years magazines in Bonnier Publications he is doing his Master degree in graphic design at Aalto University School of Art and Design. In June Antti is joining Uservoice – a software-as-a-service provider of customer support tools. Antti is eager to meet again the sea lions of San Francisco, who he met on his west coast road-trip in 2009. On freetime he plays ice hockey, football and piano.
